You can become someone who your younger relatives can seek advice from and be open too. You’ll feel needed and can help someone through a tough time.
Feeling trusted and that you give people the courage to confide in you, you’ll be doing something that not many people get to do.
Use this power responsibly and with grace. It's easy to become too harsh when giving advice or too layed back when around youngsters. Be humble and mind what you say and you'll make a good role model.
Being secretive is also key, if someone confides in you, treat it like a proffessional, you must have some 'friend-friend' confidentiality. On more serius issues you can make exceptions, but for the most part be trustworthy and know how to keep something private.
-Let kids clean up after themselves if there’s a mess.
-Let your relative know you care about their child and that you look out for them.
-If you carry an mp3 player, keep a playlist of kid friendly music on there to let them listen if they become hyper etc, let them dance their energy away.
•Put a lock on your phone and tell them the text feature isn’t working so they won’t text your friends, this is dangerous territory.
If you’re watching tv or music videos be sure it’s kid friendly.
•Let them choose the programs they want to watch, remember they’re younger than you, also don’t encourage lying or being deceptive towards their parents, someone will find out and you’ll loose all the trust they have in you.
•What kids see they copy so be careful of what you say or do in front of them.
