Giving birth is a wonderful stage in life when one human being gives another the gift of life.
For a mother this is an amazing occasion but it also bears great risks. The act of Birth giving can be done by assistance from a mid wife, in water, or through a se-section.
It is always recommend that an expecting mother remain at a hospital during the days leading up to the birth day.
However, if the ‘water breaks’ unexpectedly weeks before the due birth then action must be taken immediately. An ambulance should be called immediately and meanwhile the woman needs to be comforted and placed in a position where the baby will come out easily.
If you’re giving birth or would like to know how to give birth, look at the following instructions below:
Find a comfortable, supported or cushioned surface, and lay on your back.
If you feel the contractions, breathe in rhythmic steps. Find your rhythm and breathe and push at the same time. Tense your abdomen and help the baby on its way out of your womb.
If you are alone with nobody to assist you, once you feel the head crowning cup your hand and receive the head.
Check for an umbilical cord around the neck before pulling the baby out any further.
If the baby does not have the umbilical cord wrapped around his/her neck, cup the head and keep pushing. until the baby comes out.
Now check the color of the umbilical cord, if it is blue and not purple it is healthy..
Find a Pair of shoelaces, tie the shoelace around the umbilical cord approximately 2 inches away from the baby’s abdomen and pull tightly until separated.
If the baby does have the umbilical cord around his neck, do not let him come out any further. You must push with your arms and not let the baby come out by itself, doing this will decrease the chance of the baby choking himself with the cord.
You must use the side of your arm to push against the top of your belly and role your arm, to assist the baby’s exit. This process will hurt but it is necessary to secure the safety of the baby.
Take these precautions and your birth will go as smooth as possible.
